Programs 2023-2024

 

Junior STAR

A combination of group style and private style programs creating a thriving learning environment for beginning StarSkaters. These classes include lessons focusing on all areas of figure skating including jumps, spins, dance, skills, stroking, technique, and performance. Skaters wishing to take this class must have completed CanSkate badge 4 or with coach recommendation. 

Senior STAR

A combination of group style and private style programs creating a thriving learning environment for advanced StarSkaters. These classes include lessons focusing on all areas of figure skating including jumps, spins, dance, skills, stroking, technique, and performance. Skaters wishing to take this class must be at level Star 3 or higher, or with coach recommendation.

Star Practice

A private lesson style program that allows skaters to excel with one on one and semi-private lessons working on a variety of skills in each class. Skaters wishing to take this class must be at a minimum level of star 2 and be able to skate independently. Skaters will have a 10-minute to 15-minute private/semi-private lesson with a certified Skate Canada coach in addition to time to work independently on skills.

CanSkate

A group-style program for beginner skaters in a fun and joyful environment. Skaters wishing to take this class must be able to perform the following skills unassisted already: stand, get up, jump, shuffle/skate, and stop. This class works on improving current skating skills and developing new ones through drills, circuits and games. Skaters will be divided into rotating groups based on levels where they will work with different Skate Canada certified coaches focusing on the different fundamentals including balance, agility, and control. Skaters will be assisted by our friendly program assistants.

Pre-CanSkate

A small group-style program for beginner skaters age 3 and up who have never skated before or have very limited skating experience in a fun and joyful environment. This class provides the fundamental skills of skating including falling down/getting back up, stopping, jumping, gliding, forward and backward skating etc. The first 5 to 10 minutes of this class will be an off-ice/warm-up session for the skaters to become comfortable in their skates and to learn some of the crucial techniques in basic skating skills before reaching the ice. Skaters will be assisted by our friendly program assistants.

NEW Teen & Adult Learn To Skate 

A group-style program for teens and adults looking to learn to skate or improve their skating skills. This class is open to all teens and adults no matter their skill level in a fun and encouraging environment. Skaters will rotate with our Canskate group circuit allowing them to work with different Skate Canada certified coaches. They will work on fundamentals including balance, agility, and control. Skaters will be assisted by our friendly program assistants.

Parent &Tot

A small group-style program for beginning skaters ages 3 and 4 in a fun and joyful environment with parental assistance. Parents are required to have some skating experience and able to support their children. This class provides the fundamental skills of skating including falling down/getting back up, stopping, jumping, gliding, forward and backward skating etc. The first 5 to 10 minutes of this class will be an off-ice/warm-up session for the skaters to become comfortable in their skates and to learn some of the crucial techniques in basic skating skills before reaching the ice. PARENTS must be able to skate while supporting their child; if their skating is not to Skate Canada requirements, a helmet must be worn.
