About Our Coaches

A SkateCanada Professional Coach is the first point of contact with your child on the ice at the Fergus Skating Club. He or she is also the best source of information about your child's progress and on-ice development. We encourage parents to speak with coaches in person, via email or over the phone to get the direct, helpful feedback your skater needs.
Certification: Coaches must have National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) training and they must also be a current registered professional coaching member of Skate Canada. They must have completed a Skate Canada approved clearance check and positions of trust check, police check, and hold a valid First Aid Certificate.

Coaches Code of Ethics: As a condition of membership, Skate Canada Professional Coaches agree to respect and abide by the Skate Canada Coaches Code of Ethics at all times. Professional coaches are required to provide a copy of this code to all of their clients. You can also find the details here -

Patty Lambertus

Skate Canada Freelance Professional Coach

Patty continues to be apart out our coaching team for Canskate and Starskate for the Fergus Skating Club.

 Patty has coached many Competitive Singles Skaters from Pre-Juvenile all the way to the Senior level. She has coached numerous Skate Canada Gold Test medalists in the disciplines of Skills, Dance & Freeskate, and Interpretive. Many of Patty's former students have gone on to be Professional Coaches, University level Competitors, Skate Canada Evaluators and Ice Show performers

Philosophy - Patty encourages skaters to learn life skills through the sport of skating. A well-trained skater is a healthy and fit athlete. Goal setting, time management, sportsmanship and fun are equally as important as skill development for success in sport and life.

Trudy joined our coaching team in fall of 2021 with 20+ years of experience in Canskate and all levels of Star Skate.  She continues to work with numerous community club and has proven to be invaluable to our team.
Trudy continues to ensure a fun learning atmosphere while ensuring in success in our skaters.   
Janet Weinstein
Skate Canada Canskate Coach
Janet was a skating member of our club and continues to share her love of the ice with those she coaches.
Janet takes on many roles at our club from Coaching both Group Lessons and Private Lessons, as well as running our Canskate Program. All her lessons are enjoyable and bring many smiles to the skaters, and create real progress and success.
Deb Montgomery
Skate Canada Regional Coach
Deb is so happy to be back sharing her passion for skating with all the skaters at Fergus Skating Club. She brings over 20 years coaching experience at the Regional level in all disciplines and all levels. Deb is still skating and competing as an adult skater on a synchronized skating team. In 2018 she skated on the Canadian team at Adult Worlds in Germany bringing home a silver medal. Deb is a well rounded skater and coach and has achieved her gold levels in Dance, Skills and Artistic.




Jarret Melanson

Jarret has had personal competative sucess and now works to share his skills and techniques to rising stars.  His love for the sport shines with every class and every one of his students.
