About Our Coaches

A SkateCanada Professional Coach is the first point of contact with your child on the ice at the Fergus Skating Club. He or she is also the best source of information about your child's progress and on-ice development. We encourage parents to speak with coaches in person, via email or over the phone to get the direct, helpful feedback your skater needs.

Certification: Coaches must have National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) training and they must also be a current registered professional coaching member of Skate Canada. They must have completed a Skate Canada approved clearance check and positions of trust check, police check, and hold a valid First Aid Certificate.

Coaches Code of Ethics: As a condition of membership, Skate Canada Professional Coaches agree to respect and abide by the Skate Canada Coaches Code of Ethics at all times. Professional coaches are required to provide a copy of this code to all of their clients. Rebecca Miller

Skate Canada Regional Coach

We are happy to have Rebecca join our coaching team in Fergus for both CanSkate and Star Skaters.  She has been Coaching for 12

years and shares the following comments

", I enjoy coaching all disciplines of skating.

From first marches on the ice, to learning their first spin and jump- I believe it's my role as a coach to motivate, inspire and guide skaters to set and reach their potential goals, no matter what level a skater is at."

Nadine Maloney

CanSkate Certified

Nadine is happy to back coaching with our CanSkate Program where she has been coaching with us for 4 years and shares the following comments

" I've always held a lifelong passion for Figure Skating. Some notable accomplishments I've had as a Figure Skater is completing my Gold in Skills, Dance and FreeSkate. I was scouted by the Canadian Figure Skating Association and competed at the Junior FreeSkate Level before an injury sidelined my career. During the day I now work with vulnerable children, youth and families and am a busy mom to three young boys who are also developing a love of being on the ice. It has been a pleasure to Coach at the CanSskate level with the Fergus Skating Club for the past few years and I look forward to this years season yet again!
